Text Messaging Quick Start Guide
FIRST THING: If you haven't already contacted Ginkgo Software Customer Support to set up your Text Messaging account, do that before attempting these Quick Start steps.
System Requirements
For Automatic Confirmation Text Messages, you must be using the Practitioner Templates feature, which provides a way to have different templates for different types of confirmation messages.
For sending a text message to a client, they must have a valid text phone number marked as “Use” in their Personal screen, under the Phone - Email tab.
To begin using this feature, please notify Gingko Software Customer Support, who will explain the services and apply for a special phone number especially for text messages. At this time, you cannot use your own phone number.
Initial Setup
A step-by-step process for turning on the Text Messaging feature may be found in the Settings area, on the Program > Text tab. Follow the steps there to begin sending text messages. The process takes a few days to set up, after you take the initial steps and notify Ginkgo Software Customer Support.
Client Setup
If you have any “Text” phone numbers entered for a Client under the Email Addresses tab, they will be used for text messaging. To qualify, they must have a green “T” next to them, and be marked “Use.”.
You may enable Automatic Appointment Confirmations to be sent for any Client as Email only, Text only, or Both, depending on their preferences.
Billing
Text message usage in excess of the monthly credit of $10 will be charged to your credit card on file at the current rate of $0.008 per unit. (That’s eight-tenths of one cent per unit.) You will receive a monthly report of usage by email. Before we charge your credit card, there must be a minimum of $15 in billable charges, so if your usage doesn’t meet the minimum, it will be rolled over until the next billing cycle. Unused monthly credits have no cash value, and may not be rolled over to the next month.
